Saginaw Valley State University On-Call Athletic Trainer in University Center, Michigan

JOB SUMMARY: Saginaw Valley State University, a Division II institution, is seeking on-call, certified Athletic Trainers to serve as an assistant to and be directly responsible to the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine in performing direct supervision of student-athletes and SVSU athletic camps participants on the SVSU campus. SVSU has 19 intercollegiate sports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide the highest level of healthcare to all SVSU student-athletes and camp participants.

Maintain Board of Certification (BOC) and Michigan state licensure requirements.

Maintain positive communications and relationships with SVSU athletic department personnel.

Assist the Assistant Athletic Director/Director of Sports Medicine with special events.

Abides by NCAA Bylaws 10.1 and 11.1 regarding ethical conduct and the responsibility to positively contribute to a campus culture of NCAA rules compliance.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director/Director of Sports Medicine.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Supervision is received from the Assistant Athletic Director/Director of Sports Medicine.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in a health-related field is required.

National Athletic Trainers' Association Board Certification and Michigan state licensure required.

First Aid and CPR certified

Experience and ability to positively interact with diverse student populations and groups.

Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to work nights and weekends.

One year of experience in athletic training field.

Computer competency and skills

Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Graduation from a CAAHEP accredited program.

Graduate of an accredited or NATA approved curriculum

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed both in an office environment, which is not exposed to adverse conditions, and outside where there are no protections from the weather.
