LMR Technical Group (LMR) is seeking a Cognitive Performance Specialist

Location:Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive training and education services integrated and synchronized with squadron training calendars.
  • Manage and provide education based on cognitive performance and tailored training programs for individuals and teams.
  • Assist and advise the squadron command staff in matters relating to mental performance, exercise and sport psychology.
  • Participate in periodic meetings to review human performance training provided to Airmen and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Attend and participate in meetings with the squadron leadership as requested and/or required. Collaborate with the POTFF Team staff to enhance the quality and effectiveness of mental and human performance development and expertise delivered
  • Conduct periodic literature reviews to ensure incumbent stays current with best practices.
  • Develop and promulgate training materials to support the squadron non-physical performance optimization.
  • Participate in periodic in-service training for members of the POTFF Team.
  • Collect and report data in support of cognitive performance optimization.
  • Data requirements and frequency will be coordinated with the squadron and LMR Technical Group LLC
  • Document work performed, utilization, recommendations, and all other information in the designated database.
  • Identify and cultivate existing mental skill sets to assist the Airmen in performing optimally during physical, technical, and tactical training in preparation for combat operations, garrison, and life stressors.
  • Recognize and address mental barriers to physical performance by focusing on stress and emotional regulation; normalizes physiological responses to stress, to include combat situations; conducts tactical breathing and arousal regulation, team cohesion, imagery, and provides cognitive/learning strategies.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience providing cognitive performance and sport psychology services to collegiate/professional/Olympic sport or Special Operations Forces personnel.
  • Shall possess a Masters or Doctoral degree in the field Psychology, Sport Psychology, Social Work, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Shall have experience administering psychological assessments, interpretation of results, and planning services based on needs of the personnel.
  • Has routinely applied performance psychology principles to optimize cognitive performance of personnel in the collegiate/professional/Olympic sport or Special Operations Forces groups and individuals.
  • Holds or has the ability to obtain the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) certification.
  • Capable of properly lifting and manipulating loads or weights up to 25 kilograms and capable of meeting physical demands of observing training with personnel including the ability to hike over rough terrain, function in austere environments and to conduct training and education sessions.
  • Shall have and maintain Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Must have the ability to operate a computer and utilize software such as Microsoft applications.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
