Telluride School District R-1 Athletic Trainer in TELLURIDE, Colorado

$10,000 signing bonus

Relocation and retention bonus available

SALARY RANGE: $25/ hour starting salary

CALENDAR: 165 days school calendar

FTE: 1.0

The primary responsibility of the Athletic Trainer is to coordinate programs of preventative care, emergency care, immediate first aid and therapeutic/rehabilitation for Telluride Middle/High School student athletes. This position exhibits a high degree of independent judgment and must effectively communicate with students, parents, coaches, and other school personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Licenses/ Certifications

Bachelor's degree in Athletic training

Certified and in good standing with the NATA BOC

CPR, AED and First Aid Certification

Experience

Previous experience in the high school setting in preferred

Successful completion of a background check required

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide training services to student athletes as directed by the Athletic Director

Documentation of all injuries, treatments and return to play progressions

Injury prevention management and treatment

Develop and utilize injury prevention strategies

Design and fabricate protective equipment and apply appropriate taping/ wrapping to support extremities and prevent further aggravation

Provide 1st aid and injury assessment/ treatment/ rehabilitation/reconditioning for student athletes

Assist in the coordination and administration of the substance abuse education program, and the mental health and wellness program

Provide coverage at home events, practices and some away events from the beginning of the fall sport season to the conclusion of the spring season.

Supervised injured athletes

supervise the clearance of injured athletes prior to and during the sport seasons.

Maintain a line of communication with the team physician(s) regarding athletic health care and recommended treatment/rehabilitation for all athletic injuries.

Assist coaching staff in evaluating and implementing sport specific conditioning programs and methods.

Maintain an effective and efficient athletic training room.

Maintain communication with parents on the care & treatment of their student-athlete

File all necessary reports associated with athletic injuries and/or incidents.

Maintain a daily treatment log.

Oversee the ordering of supplies and equipment pertaining to the athletic training room and maintain an up to date inventory.

Provide the Athletic Director with an annual budget for supplies and equipment.

Equip each team with appropriate medical equipment.

Assist in the selection and fitting of protective equipment, including special taping, pads or braces.

Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks

Share professional literature relative to athletic training with the school's coaching staff.

Work with medical provider regarding return to play protocol following a concussion
