Robert Half Payroll Clerk in Schenectady, New York

Description

We are looking for a diligent Payroll Clerk to join our team in the education sector based in Schenectady, New York. This role involves managing payroll functions for a large group of employees, verifying income for various agencies and businesses, and handling inquiries about direct deposits, deductions, and other payroll-related matters. This is a short-term contract opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Administer centralized payroll functions for a large number of employees on a bi-weekly schedule

• Validate and input payroll deductions such as health insurance and flex spending

• Review employment records to confirm income when requested by various agencies and businesses

• Manage, process and respond to inquiries about direct deposit, deduction notices, retirement applications, and other payroll-related documents

• Demonstrate excellent customer service skills when interacting with personnel at various levels in the organization

• Work effectively within a team and establish and maintain productive working relationships

• Utilize Payroll and Data Entry - Numeric skills to perform tasks efficiently and accurately.

Requirements • Must possess a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Should have previous experience in a Payroll Clerk role or similar.

• Proficiency in payroll software is required.

• Strong numerical skills and data entry experience are essential.

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

• Strong knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

• Must be able to meet strict deadlines.
