The Challenge

We are looking for a skilled automotive mechanic to join our Equipment Upfit team.

In this role, you will:

  • Upfit new equipment.
  • Provide operation-ready equipment and inventory support for field staff in the construction, maintenance, and other transportation teams working on roads, highways, and bridges.
  • Support our facilities, equipment, and installation teams functional operations throughout the state.
  • Assist our Upfit Shop Supervisor in managing upfit shop projects and management tasks.
  • Repair, rebuild, and maintain light/heavy equipment.
  • Communicate with customers on a limited basis to ensure accurate description of complaints and needed repairs.
  • Prepare and complete Equipment Work Orders on a daily basis to aid in the timekeeping.
  • Ensure affected work area is kept clean and complies with all safety rules.

What You Bring

  • Working knowledge minimum of journeyman level.
  • You can demonstrate working knowledge 11+ of these areas: Brakes, Steering, Tires, Wheels, Clutches, Drive shafts, Auto transmissions, Manual transmissions, Charging, Cranking, Ignition, Lighting, Cooling, Exhaust, Fuel, Power plants, Electrical accessories, Horns, Cargo handling, Terminal components, Hydraulics, and Safety Devices.
  • You can also demonstrate working knowledge in 4+ of the following: Vehicle HVACs, Cabs, Gauges, Front axles, Rear axles, Frames, Suspensions, Driven front axles, Driven rear axles, Transfer Cases, Air intake, PTOs, Vehicle couplings, Body cargo, Rear Walls, Trailer frames, Heating units, Blowers, Compressors, Auxiliary engines, Lines, Pumps, and Valves.
  • Knowledge of automotive and/or heavy equipment repair.
  • Knowledge of techniques and methods used to determine and solve mechanical problems.
  • Diagnostic tools knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to read, understand, and explain technical and instructional manuals.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance on 1+ of the following: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, and heavy construction equipment.

Note

  • We may require EPA certification as a Type I, II, III, or Universal technician.

Education and Experience

  • High School/GED diploma, or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
