Senior Specialist, Content Design

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Content Designer to join our MACS (Mastercard Checkout Services) Content Design team. The ideal candidate is passionate about structuring and designing user-centered content. They can thoughtfully and collaboratively apply their content skills to a user-focused design process, ensuring that Mastercard’s products are easy for people to use and understand.

You’ll join the growing Content Design team within the Customer Experience and Design (CX&D) team, part of Mastercard’s new Foundry, an interdisciplinary group driving innovation and design thinking forward within the company. Your responsibilities will be embedded within the MACS product & engineering organization supporting customer and consumer-facing experiences. Working closely with partners across the business, we power Mastercard’s ability to deliver differentiated solutions and experiences—ones that make the digital economy work better for everyone, from financial institutions to farmers.

The Senior Specialist will work hand-in-hand with UX designers, researchers, developers and product stakeholders. Together, you’ll deliver solutions that will be used by millions of people across the globe, ensuring that experiences start with a clear user need and end with seamless delivery. Specifically, you’ll focus on when, where and how information is presented in the product experience so it makes sense to the user and tells a cohesive, compelling story.

MACS CX&D products are developed using US English as a standard, then localized for worldwide markets.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategic approaches to content for digital products, including spotting patterns in data and making appropriate decisions

• Architect how information is structure and presented within and around the product

• Collaborate with UX designers to create clear intuitive flows with appropriate messaging

• Write consistent, concise and accessible copy with an eye towards diversity and inclusion, including product copy (e.g. UI content, notifications, error messages) and long-form copy (e.g. marketing pages, product emails)

• Create project-related deliverables (e.g. content audits, matrices, models, user stories)

• Document and maintain content standards and best practices

• Oversee streamlined localization processes to scale products across regions

• Evangelize Content Design within Mastercard and actively contribute to the internal CX&D community

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience

• Demonstrated expertise writing and shaping content for digital products and services

• Examples of relevant work (e.g. UI text, style guides, messaging frameworks)

Preferred qualifications

• Highly organized and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, fluid environment

• Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to influence strategic direction and cross-functional stakeholders

• Experience in the payments space is a plus
