Construction Project Manager – Heavy Civil w/ADOT Experience

Fann Contracting, Inc - Northern Arizona’s leading heavy-civil and heavy-highway contractor, is searching for a Heavy-Civil Project Manager experienced in ADOT projects to join our team in PRESCOTT, ARIZONA! Our family-owned 60-year company specializes in mass excavation, rock handling, underground utilities, private and public infrastructure, asphalt paving, aggregate crushing, asphalt hot plant production, and much more. Our projects include public and private entities including ADOT, FHWA, BIA, city and county municipalities, private residential and commercial developments.

As a PROJECT MANAGER for earthwork, grading, asphalt mixing and placing, underground utilities, treatment facilities, and related projects, you will oversee jobs ranging from $1M to $50M.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Working with the project superintendent, establishing, maintaining and managing customer/owner, and subcontractor expectations regarding overall project performance.

  • Provide safety and quality leadership on the jobs including monitoring processes and related documentation.

  • Report project status and performance data to owner and team members.

  • Plan, monitor, and help control the project throughout its lifecycle.

  • Ensure that project documents are submitted ahead of time (Submittals, RFIs, Notices, Progress, etc.).

  • Review supplier/sub quotes, draft detailed subcontracts, and order materials for jobs.

  • Prepare and update project schedules.

  • Attend ADOT and other meetings including pre-construction, project, and staff meetings.

  • Meticulously monitor and track quantities on completed work and prepare monthly pay estimates.

  • Notify responsible parties in any change or deviation of original work and prepare and thoroughly document change order requests.

  • Demonstrate appropriate people skills to facilitate smooth operation of the project.

  • Conduct thorough project closeouts and see that all paperwork and sign-offs are completed as required.

  • Develop and prepare appropriate materials for project meetings, document project details with photos and professional correspondence.

  • Identify, manage and document project risks.

  • Maintain thorough, organized and legible job files.

  • Periodic or weekly statewide travel required (Arizona).

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS NEEDED:

  • Prefer 10+ years of experience successfully managing high profile heavy civil, ADOT highway and other projects.

  • S. Degree or equivalent work experience preferred but not required.

  • High proficiency in Word, Excel, and other standard management software.

  • Proficiency in Primavera project scheduling software and developing accurate CPM schedules.

  • Must have excellent documentation skills and be proactive in resolving issues quickly.

  • Ability to write professional and effective emails and letters.

  • Ability to timely organize and archive project documentation such as emails, files, etc. for easy access and recall.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to improve overall organization efficiency.

  • Excellent understanding of construction language, plans, materials and methods with an ability to communicate effectively within the construction environment.

  • Proficiency with MacBook Pro computers and HCSS HeavyJob project management software helpful.

  • Clean driving record (MVR), preferably an Arizona Driver License.
