THE POSITION

Selinsgrove Center is seeking an Automotive Mechanic to be responsible for performing skilled maintenance and repairs to all types of automotive vehicles and motorized maintenance equipment.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As part of this role, you will be responsible for conducting certified and official state inspections on vehicles assigned to you, ensuring their safety. This will involve operating specialized equipment that requires a Commercial Driver's License, including driving a forty-four (44) passenger bus and trucks with a gross weight exceeding 26,001 pounds.

Additionally, you will be involved in performing preventive maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a fleet of approximately eighty (80) cars and trucks. This crucial work plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of both individuals and employees at the Center.

Furthermore, you will be responsible for servicing and repairing various types of wheel-type diesel loaders, backhoes, forklifts, tractors, mower tractors, and industrial engines with one or more cylinders. This diverse range of equipment requires your expertise to keep them in optimal working condition.

Lastly, you will be expected to accurately record your daily work accomplishments. These records are essential for maintaining precise daily, monthly, and permanent records, which are crucial for timely submission of all reports to Harrisburg and the Department of General Services. Your attention to detail in this aspect will contribute to the smooth functioning of the department.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; or

  • Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

    Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

  • This position requires a Commercial Driver's License Class B or higher with Passenger and Airbrake Endorsement.

  • This position requires a Pennsylvania Certified Inspection Mechanic Certificate.
