Amazon Sr. Technical Program Manager, WW Ops Finance S&A in New York, New York

Description

The WW Ops Finance Standardization & Automation team is looking for a customer focused, analytically and technically skilled Program Manager to own program solutions for the Operations Finance organization. This team has a fast-paced environment where we “Work Hard, Have Fun, Make History.” On a typical day, you will talk to several customers, define and prioritize the roadmap, deep dive to root cause a customer issue, release the latest new feature, define and report business metrics, discuss radical new approaches to building and operating at scale, the list goes on.

Key job responsibilities

The right candidate will possess a strong program management background, has experience leading large projects, and has a well-rounded technical background in current technologies. As a Technical Program Manager, your responsibilities will include writing specifications, driving project schedules from design to release, and managing the production launch. You will lead and coordinate design and implementation efforts, coordinating across multiple teams to develop optimal solutions. You will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, destroy limits to scale, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives while rolling up your sleeves to get the job done. You will need to partner with customers in Tech and Finance, and influence the direction of multiple engineering teams within the org to deliver complex/cross-functional projects.

You will be expected to -

  • Build strategic roadmaps by driving consensus among Product and Tech teams, be a catalyst in multiple feature prioritization and fast-track decision making, that impact the create/grow/deprecate stages of product lifecycle.

  • Establish mechanisms that promote agility and engineering excellence through continuous iterations till you achieve optimal outcomes

  • Own the resource planning, execution and delivery of projects on the roadmap

  • Develop, improve and share operational best practices across the teams and with peers globally

  • Manage program-level schedules and milestones, and maintain alignment with multiple competing goals by negotiating and exhibiting ‘influence over authority’

  • Provide support and coverage across regions while organizing and contributing to meetings representing your projects and programs effectively.

  • Assess and manage risks, define and measure success metrics, anticipate and resolve bottlenecks, provide escalation management, make tradeoffs, and balance what customer needs with the technical constraints

  • Act as a subject matter expert by synthesizing the problems and the solutions into a simple and consumable manner, and communicate effectively to a cross-functional audience

  • Regularly present to senior leadership the work accomplished, challenges faced by teams and recommend mitigation strategy

About the team

The WW Operations Finance Standardization and Automation (S&A) team exists to accelerate our path to One Ops Finance. The team drives standardization across Operations Finance and works to automate through product development and onboarding, customer engagement and continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of software development experience

  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
