Facilities General Mechanic

\ \ Description\ Middlebury College is actively seeking a talented individual to fill the position of Facilities General Mechanic. Our Facilities General Mechanic will perform various metal fabrication, welding repair, electromechanical, HVAC repair, and preventative maintenance on campus building equipment. This role offers an opportunity to use your varied skills and contribute to our campus operations while enjoying a host of great benefits.\ \ This is a full time, benefits eligible position with a hiring range of \$26.32-\$32.91 per hour.\ \ Core Responsibilities:\

• Maintain and repair of various campus equipment as indicated on daily work orders to include metal fabrication and weld repair as necessary to build/rebuild various equipment and parts.\
• Perform millwright activities including equipment reliability and preventive maintenance, belt and shaft alignments, work on conveyor systems, and rigging.\
• Preventative maintenance and testing of standby emergency generators on campus. Coordinate outages and repairs.\
• Perform work on solenoids, actuators, and low voltage systems.\
• Conduct yearly PMs including greasing and checking of fluids on various equipment.\
• Carry out all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established Middlebury
• College and departmental policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned to assist the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission. Work cooperatively with others and accept direction from supervisors.\
• Perform associated facilities services maintenance work as requested, including, but not limited to snow removal, event setup and cleanup, truck loading and unloading and grounds maintenance.\
• Support teams of trades people skilled in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, automotive technology, and boiler plant.

• High school diploma or equivalent with on-the-job training, vocational schooling.\
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: millwright, plumbing/HVAC; welding; TIG, MIG, stick, gas (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW); appliance installation and repair; commercial kitchen equipment; fitness equipment; generators and engines; small engine repair; landscaping equipment; steam boiler plant operations; basic machining.\
• Certificate of fitness T6 Emergency Generators (TQP) Have or ability to obtain; Technical certifications for welding, propane, natural gas - Have or ability to obtain preferred.\
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills are a must.\
• Demonstrates the ability to work independently with ability to troubleshoot complex problems spanning
• HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems in a large building environment.\
• A valid driver\'s license, with clean driving record, and own vehicle for transportation of self, tools, and procuring small materials. Furnishes own hand tools for plumbing/mechanical work.\
• Knowledge of or ability to learn lockout /tag out procedures, co fined space entry and electrical safety.

\ Physical Demands and Working Conditions\ Must have the ability to work Saturdays and Sundays as part of a regular or rotating work shift. Must be available to work flexible shifts and overtime as necessary. Must be available for emergency maintenance calls on evenings and weekends according to rotation schedule. Requires frequent standing, squatting, climbing stairs and ladders, twisting, reaching, pushing or pulling. Post-Offer-Pre-Employment Screen required.
