Middlebury College Administrative Associate for Bread Loaf School of English in Middlebury, Vermont

Provides core support for admissions, marketing & recruitment; primary staff support for the Bread Loaf Teacher Network (BLTN) and the Vermont Writing Center; assists with development of professional development / winter institutes.

This is a part time position (around 30 hours per week), benefits eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of $19.90 to 24.88 per hour.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assists with admissions, handling student queries, processing admissions documents, and monitoring full application process for each student.

  • Works with Administrative Director to develop marketing materials, and serves as primary point person for all recruiting events.

  • Supports BLTN administration year-round: arranges BLTN meetings & conferences; tracks events and budgets; updates BLTN materials.

  • Provides summer support for Vermont Writing Center director: assisting with hiring, training, scheduling, and tracking peer tutors.

  • Assists with development & implementation of short-term professional development institutes.

Requirements

Associate degree required, BA preferred or equivalent experience; some familiarity with humanities education a plus.

Excellent communication skills and willingness to learn how to market the program essential; ability to work easily and flexibly as part of an administrative team and with multiple constituencies.

Proficiency with MS Office applications, especially Word and Excel, required; some familiarity with Slate a plus.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

During academic year, works in main office at least 2 days per week, with option to work remotely up to 3 days per week; during summer works on Bread Loaf campus in Ripton.
