Los Alamos National Laboratory Maintenance Support Specialist 1 in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

The Maintenance Support Specialist 1 coordinates the scheduling, work execution process and performance review process from eight weeks out to the week following execution. Ensures adherence to applicable work management procedures. Facilitates and enforces process including scope stability, milestone adherence, work order restraints, job durations to improve resource utilization for scheduled work. Ensures coordination issues, gaps, and exceptions to the above are identified, owned, and tracked to closure. Ensures accountability for meeting the work week process.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Directs and coordinates the detailed schedule development and execution for the assigned workweek to ensure schedules are coordinated to minimize safety challenges and effectively and efficiently implement the schedules.

  • Provides direction, with minimal oversight, to all department planners, schedulers, project managers, and other support personnel for the development of an effective and accurate schedule execution.

  • Directs schedule execution to meet the key indicators in the AP-WORK-003 Scheduling Desk Guide.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Communication & Teamwork: Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting facility maintenance and performance assurance.

Business Processes and Systems: Ability to follow and inform improvements in procedures, policies, and processes. Ability Experience working with team-members, other organizations, and customers and to solve problems, define expectations and mutual responsibilities. Ability to review, understand, and execute an end-to-end work processes.

Maintenance Operations: Basic knowledge of and experience with work control, materials management, and/or mechanical maintenance. Clear understanding of work hazards, safety practices policies and procedures.

Experience/Education: Position requires a minimum of 2 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active Q Clearance.

  • Knowledge of the Laboratory's organizational structure.

  • Knowledge of the Conduct of Maintenance, Conduct of Operations, and Conduct of Engineering as it pertains to DOE owned facilities.

  • Understanding of the Laboratory's facility maintenance policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Understanding of facility operations, general building systems (heating/cooling, water, waste, electrical, pneumatic, etc.).

  • Understanding of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting facility maintenance and administration.

  • Full understanding of the Laboratory's facility maintenance policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Experience using Primavera P6 or Microsoft Office Suite, to include MS Project, or similar software.

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 (https://www.directives.doe.gov/directives-documents/400-series/0472.2-BOrder-chg1-pgchg) for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
