Job Overview:

Mechanical Engineer with Heat Transfer expertise for our Houston location. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work independently and, in a team, setting within a dynamic work environment.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed engineering design activities in support of very large projects in EPC phase.

• Activities will involve one or more of the following: Design shell and tube exchangers and air coolers thermally by using htri programs. Design shell and tube exchangers mechanically by using EDR programs. Prepare exchanger and fired equipment data sheet, bid evaluation and requisition. Review vendor data. Supervise other engineers in heat transfer work.

• Maintains and promotes a focus on end product whether engineering, fabrication or construction.

• Is able to effectively communicate technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineers.

• Ensures effective communications among other engineering disciplines.

• Ensures effective management of change.

• Adopt and leverage McDermott’s Engineering Standards. Maintain or support any site-specific requirements or standards.

Essential Qualifications and Education:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering required

• Minimum 10 years detailed design experience / Familiar with API, ASME and TEMA code

• Experienced with fired heater, thermal oxidizer, flare, cooling tower, packaged boiler and all types of heat exchangers (shell and tube exchanger, air cooler, cold box, surface condenser, plate and frame exchanger, electric heater and hairpin exchanger)

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

• Experience as an Area, Team or Project Lead

• Experience with LNG or Ethylene related projects

• Track record of successfully supporting the similar size organization and investment

• Customer focused, dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers

• Relates well to all levels and kinds of people; able to build appropriate rapport; listens well

• Self-starter; results driven; anticipates/initiates and implements solutions

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
