Summary About the Position: Serves as a Security Assistant for the National Museum of the United States (NMUSA). Performs a full range of duties to include applying security processes and procedures for a facility with emphasis on and not limited to, access control, camera monitoring, security systems, and key control and badging. Responsibilities Provides safeguards for the protection of US Government physical and historical property to prevent theft and vandalism. Provides routine information, referring visitors to appropriate staff members for specific action. Implements procedures designed to safeguard Army property, historical artifacts and Army personnel. Greet visitors, conduct bag checks, operates stationary or hand help magnetometers, and x-rays, to detect prohibited items and determines their eligibility to access the facility. Controls access to the facilities and manages access badges. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Access Control Operations Oral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
