Pay Range: $16.00 - 20.00 per hour

What does Yukon Equipment Inc do?

Yukon Equipment specializes in sales of new and used construction equipment, repairs, rentals, parts, and service. Find everything you need for backhoes, excavators, skid steers, wheel loaders, bulldozers, equipment trailers, forklifts, and tractors.

What can you expect?

As the Rental Yard Assistant, you are responsible for assisting Rental and Service Departments maintain the rental equipment fleet.

How will you do it?

  • Assist mechanics with Heavy Equipment services: checking fluids, oil changes, greasing machines, cleaning machines inside and out.
  • Move Heavy Equipment and arrange in an organized manner.
  • Responsible for yard cleanliness and organization.
  • Assist rental department in checking in and out on rental equipment.
  • Utilize material handling equipment such as forklifts, etc.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as employee handbooks, safety instructions, and other procedure manuals.
  • Familiarity with operating heavy equipment and willing to learn heavy equipment trade.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, or willingness to be trained to operate a forklift.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, including before groups of people.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to be consistently at work and on time; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; arrives at meetings and appointments on time.
  • Work may require a flexible schedule for summer hours, some overtime may be required.
  • Ability to follow instructions, respond to management directions; take responsibility for own actions; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.
  • Ability to multi-task and asks for help and offers help when needed.
  • Ability to generate suggestions for improving work; presents ideas and information in a manner that gets others attention.

Who Is Yukon Equipment looking for?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid current Alaska drivers license with good driving record preferred.
  • Ability to pass a drug, driving record and background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of equipment trade, preferred.
