Global Management Services, LLC, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking a qualified Fuel Distribution System Mechanic for Fairbanks to install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and modify liquid fuel storage, distribution, and dispensing systems at Fort Richardson, Fort Wainwright and/or Fort Greely Alaska.


The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position, and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.

  • Responsible for inspection, evaluating conditions of, and maintaining fuel storage tanks, pipelines, and piping systems, product pump, filter, meter, gauge, and flow control mechanisms, manifold and valve systems, and other related petroleum system components.

  • Capable of detecting/recognizing system component malfunction, misalignment, leak, and adjustment issues and performing scheduled and unscheduled fuel system maintenance.

  • Responsible for removing, repairing and replacing system components, therefore must have a basic knowledge of automated tank gauging systems, high/low level alarms, and cathodic protection systems.

  • Shall be knowledgeable of and capable using, making input to, and extracting data and reports from preventive maintenance software applicable to those maintenance actions performed.

  • Performance operator and recurring maintenance on fueling systems on a quarterly, semi-annual, annual, or as needed basis. Maintenance will be performed in accordance with UFC 3-460-3, manufacturer’s specifications, best commercial practices, NACE International publications and standard publications.


Required (Minimum) Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ of documented experience in the maintenance of fuel distributions systems equivalent to an Air Force or Army Water and Fuel System 7 skill level

  • Extensive Experience with AGT, UST, and pipeline systems

  • Ability to access Alaska Army Bases and have an Alaskan State driver’s license

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Knowledge of the physical properties and hazards associated with the handling of various types of petroleum fuels

  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance and inspection techniques as applied to fuel distribution and storage systems

  • Skill in calibration of fuel dispensing systems and tank and pressure gauges

  • Skill in techniques used to measure, cut, thread, join, and fit piping and tubing

  • Ability to analyze deficiencies and diagnose malfunctions of system components such as automatic control valves, pumps, flow meters, etc.

Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.


  • No supervisory responsibilities.


As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
