Excelsior Orthopaedics Group Athletic Trainer-Sports Performance-Outreach in Elma, New York

The Athletic Trainer supporting Sports Performance and Outreach, will play a vital role in enhancing the athletic performance of our athletes, clients, and students. Assist in the design and implementation of personalized strength and conditioning programs, monitor progress, and provide guidance on nutrition and injury prevention. Provide expertise and coaching contributing to the success and well-being of athletes across various sports disciplines. Represent Excelsior Orthopaedics in the community while assigned to a local high school to provide athletic training services at practice, games, and sporting events. Provide prevention, evaluation, documentation, education, immediate care, referrals, and coordination of care of athletic injuries; communication with coaches, athletes, and parents is part of the everyday role.

  • Demonstrate core values of being patient centered, team focused, service driven, accountable, and innovative.

  • Conduct comprehensive athletic profile assessments to determine baseline fitness levels and goals.

  • Execute individualized strength and conditioning programs tailored to each athlete's needs, sport, and performance objectives.

  • Continuously adjust and refine programs to optimize performance gains.

  • Lead and supervise strength and conditioning team sessions, providing expert guidance on exercise techniques and form.

  • Motivate and inspire athletes to achieve their performance goals while ensuring safety and injury prevention.

  • Monitor and record progress, making necessary adjustments to training plans.

  • Collaborate with sports dietitians and nutritionists to provide athletes with dietary recommendations that support their training goals.

  • Implement injury prevention protocols and exercises to reduce the risk of injuries.

  • Work closely with sports medicine professionals to address any injuries or rehabilitation needs.

  • Evaluate injuries and develop treatment and exercise plans within the scope of practice. Re-evaluate treatment plans as needed to ensure maximum patient benefit.

  • Implement individualized therapeutic interventions and monitor responses to therapy to ensure client safety.

  • Report progress and medical changes to referring physician.

  • Educate clients, families, and coaches regarding injuries, risk factor modifications, and exercise programs.

  • Conduct injury screening clinics, educational programs, and workshops to promote safety and injury prevention.

  • Document patient treatment per professional and regulatory standards.

  • Assist Athletic Director as needed.

  • Continuously evolve role when performing supplemental responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training required.

  • NYS Certification required.

  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) preferred.

  • CPR/First Aid/AED certified preferred

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in high school or junior college level athletic training services required.
