The mechanic will perform repair work and maintenance for motor vehicles.

1. Consults with employee to collect information on vehicle history, problem with the vehicle, and/or known maintenance or repairs required.
2. Identifies mechanical problems visually and/or with computer diagnostic equipment.
3. Performs tests on specific parts and systems to determine whether they are operating properly.
4. Examines critical parts and systems using standard checklists.
5. Plans repairs and timetables for completion; provides customers with time and cost estimates.
6. Performs routine and preventive maintenance including oil changes and tune-ups.
7. Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems such brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
8. Conducts post-repair testing and diagnostics.
9. Test drives vehicle to confirm proper operation, that repairs have been made properly, and that problems have been resolved.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 1. Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair. 2. Proficient with related computer diagnostic equipment and software. 3. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 4. Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues. 5. Ability to read service and repair manuals. 6. Ability to read work orders. 7. Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
