JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Residence Life Office (https://altoona.psu.edu/offices-divisions/student-affairs/residence-life) , in Altoona, is looking for a dynamic and energetic individual to join the team!

The Live-On Assistant Director of Residence Life is a vital part of the team in helping to continue the vision and mission of the department. They are responsible to a Senior Director of Student Affairs for supervising a staff of up to three professional staff members and one part-time coordinator, as well as overseeing the daily activities of buildings housing up to 900 students.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Directing, supervising, and administering the student personnel and residence life functions for a residence hall community housing

  • Professional staff supervision

  • Program development and coordination

  • Policy development and implementation

  • Professional and paraprofessional staff selection and training

  • Budget development and oversight

  • Collaborating with various offices to ensure each resident is receiving a high-quality living experience

  • Representing residence life in student affairs, campus, and system-wide residence life committees, as appropriate

  • Serving as the primary contact between campus residence life and Central residence life offices

  • Educating students on residence hall and university policies and serving as hearing officer for on-campus discipline cases.

  • Managing crisis situations and serving in on-call rotation

Requires a Master’s degree or higher in a related discipline plus three years of related experience. Must demonstrate a commitment to the development of a community where diversity and sustainability are valued. Should possess a thorough understanding of the role and purpose of residence hall living as it applies to student development.

This is a regular staff 12-month live-on appointment.

This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$51,000.00 - $74,000.00
